Youth Groups Activities for Girls

Although one of the main benefits of youth groups is to bring boys and girls together, creating a forum where they are comfortable and yet able to push their boundaries so that interaction with the opposite sex is no longer regarded as a difficulty but rather as a part of normal life, occasionally it is beneficial to have a time of separated activities. Here are some useful ideas for when the girls just 'wanna' have fun!
Spa Day
This has to be very high up the list of possible youth group activities for girls. Of course, going to a real spa is probably far beyond the means of almost every youth group in the world, so instead, why not hold a special session where all the girls can bring in their own collections of make-up. This would work well in a female leader's house, though of course you'll need to make sure that the parents are all on board and aware of the situation.Even if it is in the usual youth group venue, an opportunity for girls to chat about beauty regimes, make each other over, and generally be girly together is as close to a guaranteed success as you will find. It also gives the girls the chance to bond with each other and to learn more about each other without the sometimes undesirable attention of the boys of the youth group.
Chick Flick Night
This is, of course, the other great fail-safe option for a girls-only night, whether they are in a youth group or not. The irresistible allure of a night spent watching films which make you either laugh, or cry, or both, allied to immense amounts of chocolate and popcorn, is undeniably hugely popular with the female gender. Just make sure it's not a frequent event, otherwise the girls might well end up believing what they see - either falling in love with every boy they see, or hating every man they meet!Similarly, the amount of junk food consumed is in direct proportion to the emotional outlay expended on watching the films, so unless your youth group are unconcerned about the obesity problem in Western society, there are very good reasons for making this sort of event a very special and rare treat indeed. However, when all is said and done, the chick flick night is a great social event for the girls in a youth group.
Arts and Crafts
Arts and crafts have become increasingly popular in recent years as a way of allowing girls a chance to bond. In particular, activities such as card-making, jewellery design or building scrapbooks are all great ways of working towards a goal together, learning new skills and appreciating the differences that make each girl unique. Giving youth groups a chance to be creative is essential, even if you aren't particularly crafty yourself; one way of getting around potential pitfalls is to invite in leading people from the area who are able to share their talents, such as arts teachers or local jewellers.Giving girls a chance to share enjoyable activities with each other is a good way of ensuring that the bonds of friendship between them remain strong as they grow up and start to deal with the difficulties of youth. We hope that these activities might give you much enjoyment and perhaps some other ideas for fun things to do with the girls in your youth group.
